The first rule for choosing a dog food is that meat should be the first ingredient. This food doesn't even pass that test. Rice is good for dogs as long as it is whole grain rice. This product uses soy, generic fat and menadione. There are much better foods for less money: Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Castor & Pollux, Merrick, Taste of the Wild, Canidae, Solid Gold and Pinnacle.

Neither Science Diet nor Nutro is a good food. Find a food with no corn, no wheat, no soy, no generic fats and no menadione and one high in Omega 3 fatty acids. Good foods are Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Castor & Pollux, Merrick, Taste of the Wild, Canidae, Solid Gold and Pinnacle.

Nutro Natural Choice is nowhere near the quality of Blue Buffalo. Blue Buffalo has no corn, no wheat, no soy, no menadione. Nutro has all of them. Nutro has no fruits and vegetables with natural vitamins. Blue Buffalo has cranberries, blueberries, carrots and sweet potatoes. Don't even think about it. Blue Buffalo is head and shoulders above Blue Buffalo. If you want to consider other good brands: Wellness, Castor & Pollux, Merrick, Pinnacle, Dogswell, Solid Gold, Merrick, Taste of the Wild and Canidae but don't even think of Nutro.

We have one that looks like a flatter version of a sofa. It has a ledge all around the back and sides and an open front. Ours is HUGE because I wanted something all three of my dogs could sleep on. They also have smaller round beds in my room and a covered cushion in a crate.

The biggest thing that I learned the hard way, is to get something that has a removable cover and is machine washable. I had a few that didn't and I didn't really understand the point. It is a dog bed. Dogs get smelly, dirty, they shed...why would I want a bed that I can't wash easily?

There are a lot on the market right now and for my big bed I paid over $100, but it was exactly what I was looking for. My dogs love the "arms" of the bed and the thickness, but it comes apart and breaks down for a machine wash. My other small beds cost me around $20-$40 and are actually harder to wash!

Going into a petstore and taking a look around is a good idea. You can play with it and touch and feel what you are buying. If you find something you like, write the name down and search for it online for cheaper. Usually though, once you add in shipping, it isn't always cheaper.

Good luck finding something you and your doggy like.

I'm a professional pet writer and some of the comments you've gotten here are spot on.
There are no good, highly nutritional foods sold in supermarkets. The old adage, "You are what you eat," applies to your dog as well. If you feed a poor quality diet, full of fillers, then the chances are, he will not be as healthy for long. If you feed a high quality diet, with meat as the #1, main ingredient (not meat by products) and less fillers, then you have a better chance of not only filling up your dog faster, but keeping him healthy, with a beautiful, soft coat. k9cuisine.com offers only high quality brands of pet food online.

An easy toy that you can buy that will keep her occupied for along time is a Kong, since it is hollow and open on both ends, fill the middle with peanut butter or mabey even wet dog food, but peanut butter would probably hold her attention more, and put down a blanket to chew it on (the peanut butter may have some slip out, hense the blanket!!) She will keep licking in it till she gets the peanut butter!

Kong toys are great but, to make some..

A washcloth ( get it wet and freeze it)
Socks
( remember a sock or a washcloth tied in a knot makes it different from a regular sock or washcloth, so she wont steal the others thinking its hers)
old stuffed animals (make sure there are no hard peices like eyes)

Dont give her water bottles anymore.. if she can chew off a peice of that plastic and swollow it, it can litterally tear her up inside.
